What is MyBCTeam and How Do I Use It?
MyBCTeam gives you the easiest way to find the best team of providers and peers of women who have fought or are fighting breast cancer. Share with other women like you, and learn from their experience.
In addition to the searchable local business database, we’ve built a social network to make it easier for women to connect with each other and exchange insights about providers. More often than not, when you’re first diagnosed, you feel alone and excluded from information that can help you now. Our philosophy is to make it easy get to answers you need, as well as the emotional support to get through treatment. The more women know and share with each other, the easier it is to see if you’re missing a specialist that could help you, and see if the local providers you have are among the best to meet your needs. Below are key areas of the site:
- Find Providers best suited to meet your needs based keyword and zip code/city and state. This is a great place to start building your own team.
- Find Women Like You based on location, your diagnosis and age. You can browse everyone’s story and team, which helps provide insight as you share and build your own team.
- Q & A section enables you to search previously asked questions and answers, and gives you the ability to ask your own question that will be answered by other women on MyBCTeam.
- Activity page is where everyone posts daily updates. It’s where daily triumphs and trials are shared and supported.
Women use MyBCTeam to find and share the best providers and businesses that especially cater to your needs (marked by “MBCT-yes”) – on a hyper-local level.
What exactly is a ‘team’? A team on MyBCTeam is everyone you recommend, and friends you make on the site. Sometimes it can take trial and error to build the right team to meet your needs. Everyone from the oncologist and surgeon, to the friendly hair stylist or yoga instructor who ‘gets it.’ It’s the team of people you’ve brought together to make the fight with breast cancer one you win. MyBCTeam makes it easy to find those best suited to meet your personal needs in the fight against breast cancer, while providing you a social network of support from other women like you.
Our goal is to have hundreds of thousands of teams over the next two years. We know we can’t do it alone. With the help of survivors and those recently diagnosed with breast cancer, we can quickly identify and grow the searchable MyBCTeam database to help the 1 in 8 women diagnosed with breast cancer sooner rather than later. You’re not alone and you shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel.
